Bookkeeper - On-site

Department: Accounting/Finance
Location: Belize City or Belmopan City, Belize
Salary: $12 - $15 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks.
  • Record daily financial transactions, including deposits, expenses, payroll allocations, and job-related costs.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across all financial data entries

Financial Reporting (Basic)

  • Prepare and provide basic financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
  • Assist management with routine financial reviews and operational cost tracking.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes as required.

Accounts Payable

  • Manage full Accounts Payable cycle, including vendor setup, invoice review, approval tracking, and payment processing.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of subcontractors, fuel vendors, equipment suppliers, and other industry-specific vendors.

Accounts Receivable

  • Perform basic Accounts Receivable functions, including invoicing, payment application, and customer account tracking.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and support collections efforts when necessary.
  • Coordinate with operations and customer service teams regarding billing issues and job-related adjustments.

Purchase Orders and Inventory Management

  • Create and track purchase orders for supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain inventory records for moving supplies (e.g., boxes, packing materials, equipment).
  • Reconcile inventory usage against job costs and purchasing records.

Policy and Procedural Communication

  • Follow established accounting policies and internal controls
  • Communicate financial procedures clearly to internal staff as needed
  • Assist in documenting and maintaining accounting policies and workflow processes
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in the moving, logistics, or service-based industry.
  • Advanced Proficiency in QuickBooks (desktop or online), including daily transaction entry and basic reporting.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with clients.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Demonstrated track record of working cross-functionally, resolving issues respectfully, and contributing to team outcomes.
  • Comfortable working in a digital/online environment where work activity is monitored for quality, security, and performance.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred but not required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance will be considered.
  • Minimum of 1 year of bookkeeping or accounting experience may substitute for formal education.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information.
  • Advanced skills in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Zoom/ Teams) and other office software.
