Job Title: Military Logistics Dispatcher

Reports Directly To: Military Operations Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Military Logistics Dispatcher to oversee and coordinate the transportation logistics for military relocations. This role is vital to ensuring the efficient and smooth movement of goods and household items for military personnel. The dispatcher will be responsible for managing a fleet of trucks, scheduling shipments, and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, while maintaining the highest standards of service and professionalism.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Dispatch Operations & Coordination:
    • Plan and assign loads to drivers based on destination, capacity, and equipment availability.
    • Monitor, update, and track all dispatched shipments to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
    • Manage real-time dispatch adjustments, resolving any issues such as delays, reroutes, or equipment failures.
    • Coordinate logistics operations with other departments, including warehouse, customer service, and operations teams.
  2. Customer & Client Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for military personnel, providing timely updates and answering queries related to their shipments.
    • Communicate special instructions and requirements clearly to drivers and crews to ensure service quality.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with military personnel, DoD representatives, and base officials.
  3. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
    • Ensure compliance with all DoD transportation policies, safety standards, and company procedures.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate logs, route sheets, and move documentation required for audits and reporting.
    • Track shipment paperwork, driver logs, and delivery confirmations for each assignment.
  4. Fleet Management:
    • Coordinate vehicle maintenance and inspections to ensure fleet readiness.
    • Monitor driver schedules, hours of service, and safety performance to optimize efficiency.
    • Assist in assigning drivers based on qualifications and certifications, ensuring compliance with DoD requirements.
  5. Problem Solving & Conflict Resolution:
    • Quickly address and resolve any issues that arise during the shipping process, including scheduling conflicts, route changes, or unforeseen obstacles.
    • Develop contingency plans to minimize service disruptions and ensure customer satisfaction.
  6. Data Management & Reporting:
    • Utilize dispatch and logistics software to update schedules, track shipments, and monitor fleet performance.
    • Generate reports on move status, driver performance, and customer satisfaction.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of transportation logistics, route planning, and fleet management.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with military personnel and DoD officials.
  • Proficiency in logistics and dispatch software, such as TMS (Transportation Management System).
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and/or dispatch software.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatch management, preferably in a military or transportation environment.
